Alphabet Soup Craft
Unique Preschool Crafts

Alphabet Soup craft encourages preschoolers to spell out words with the cereal letters. It uses cereal letters and a paper plate to re-make a bowl of alphabet soup.

Prepare following things for your preschooler

* Paper plate

* marker

* Alphabet Cereal

* Glue

Instructions:

Step 1

Help your preschooler to color the external ring of the paper plate by using any color he or she prefers. This will be the

bowl

Step 2

After the paint dries, let your child use markers to draw apattern on the bowl. Help him or her to leave the center white, this will be the broth.

Step 3

Once the paint is dry, Have your child glue the letters from cereal. Beforhand you and your child could write you own name, other family members names, friends' names on cereal letter. Play around and have fun with your child.

Step 4

When you finished writing names on cereal, Have your child glue the cereal pieces in place on the plate. This will be the piece of alphabet art. You may help your preschooler to make more plate or bowl. Think about writing a personalized message for family members or friends with these cereal alphabet letters.



Variation game


Bouncing ABCs Together

Bouncing an alphabet ball helps children get onto to letter recognition

Material Needed:

Beach ball

Permanent marker

Instruction

Step1:

Using a permanent marker to write big capital alphabet letters on each side of the beach ball.

Step2:

Explain to children that need to bounce the ball to each other and catch it. Tell them not to bounce the ball too high,otherwise the ball will go out of the group area.

Step3:

Having the children stand in a big circle. Pass the ball to one child and direct the child to bounce it to someone else in the circle.

Step4:

The child catching the ball identifies the letters his or her hands are touching. Point out that they might need to identify more letters at one time depending on their touching position. After the letters are named, the catcher bounces the ball to another child.

Keep going in this way until all the children have had at least one turn catching and identifying letters.

Variation

For an extension and add more challenging into the game, Ask the catcher to say words that begin with the letter his or her hands are touching.
