The second basic baby sign language you need to teach is EAT. To learn it, your baby will need to make another association. But since EAT sign pantomimes eating something, it's the one becomes easy to teach and easy for you and your baby to remember. Follow sketch map for EAT below, Move your hand back and forth to your mouth as if you are eating.
Here are some good ways to teach EAT to your baby
1) Make a suppertime game. I bet when your baby is waiting for food, he must be excited about the prospect of eating. Sit down in front of him with a bowl of his favorite food. Then ask and sign to your baby: "EAT?" You want to EAT?" before you begin to feed him. Remember, your voice should be upbeated and you should be smiling al the times. Don't make it too seriously, it should be fun!
Let's be aware of the difference between EAT and MORE? With EAT, sign has to be made before feeding your baby. If you stop and start throughout the meal to teach the sign, your baby will confuse EAT and MORE
2) Every morning, when you get your baby out of his crib before breakfast, make the sign for EAT, asking him if he is hungry and ready to EAT. Then it is the important step for you, take your baby directly to his high chair so your baby is able to make the connection between actual action and sign. in addition, on your way to take your baby to his high chair, ask and sign that same question a few more times. Remember to speak when you sign.
3) Surprise your baby at other times of the day by asking him if he would like something to EAT. Repeat the question a few times, and then take a little snack to your baby in order to reinforce EAT sign.
4) Use whatever props you can think of to reinforce the sign and its association. For example, feed the dog, a family member, or offer a pretend-snack to a stuffed bear.
