Basic Baby Sign Language For Gentle Touch

Another valuable basic baby sign language is GENTLE TOUCH. Basically, it's one hand "petting" the back of the other hand, as if you were gently touching a kitty.

Research shows that Baby's first inclination to the objects mostly would be to grab or squeeze it. With the GENTLE TOUCH sign, you can teach him to be kind and gentle touch the things. Remember to use soothing tone of your voice as you pet your hand. The sign is also useful when holding delicate objects or when visiting friends with younger babies than yours.

Sign Instruction

One hand gently "pets" the back of the other hand to make sign "GENTLE TOUCH".

Techniques to Teach GENTLE TOUCH

1) Touch your baby, rubbing his arm or leg while saying, "GENTLE TOUCH, GENTLE TOUCH"

2) Get out the props. Use a teddy bear or your baby's favorite stuffed animal and while your baby is watching, rub the subject's arm while speaking and signing, "GENTLE TOUCH".

3) If you have a pet at home, pet him gently, guiding your baby's hand over his fur while saying and signing "GENTLE TOUCH".
