Material Needed

Safe,washable colored markers

Instruction

Step1

Here is a new twist on the traditional English finger play "two little blackbirds". Show a bird picture to children, have children use a black color marker to draw birds on their pointer fingers by copying the picture. Or you may instruct children to draw two little eyes and a small triangular beak on each of their fingers to make the bird.

Step2

Let children jiggle and fly their index fingers while chanting along in a singsong manner:

Two little blackbirds sitting on a hill,

One named Jack and the other named Jill.

Fly away, Jack; Fly away, Jill.
Come back, Jack; come back, Jill.
