Kids Interaction Games
Kids interaction games challenge children to respond to the initiative of others, take initiative themselves, and pay attention to each other. Kids interaction games are exclusively related to interaction. They have almost nothing to do with an end outcome or a winner.
Living MirrorWhat you needMusic InstructionHave children stand in pairs, facing each other. Place the pairs far enough apart so that one pair does not disturb another. Have the pairs decide who becomes lead first. When the music starts, the leader makes slow and gentle movements with his arms and upper body, Note: ask children to make movements slowly. and the follower mirrors the movements as closely as possible. Both should stay in place. Make sure the movements are slow and gliding. After a few minutes, have the other partner lead.
Making a shapewhat you needGentle Music InstructionHave the children walk freely around the room by following the music. When the music stops name a shape, such as a circle. Have the group form it as quickly as possible. Take note of how long children need to make an acceptably round circle without discussing anything beforehand. If it takes too long, have them try again to see if they can do it more quickly. Do the same with other shapes, such as a straight line, a square, a half-moon, or a triangle.
Statue! What you need:MusicInstructionGive a number to each child in the group and let children walk around in a circle by following music. At a sign from you, child 1 goes into the middle of the circle and takes a particular pose. She or he can stand, sit or recline. Have her or him freeze in this pose for the rest of the game. When she or he is ready she/he gives a signal and child 2 strikes her own pose, touching or making contact with child 1. Child 2 signals to child 3, and so on. Make sure everyone who goes into the center makes contact with at least one of those who is already three. Keep going until all the children have created a complex statue.
Instruments LeadWhat you need:Different instruments for half the children in the group InstructionSplit the children into two group and give instrument to each of the children in one group. Have the children on the other group stand anywhere in the room. Place the group with the instruments in a row or half-circle so that they are clearly visible to the others. Then allot each child in the second group an instrument to follow. This child will be directed by that instrument; for instance, one beat means to make a step, a fast tempo themselves to the instrument and follow it as closely as possible. After a while have the groups switch, so each child in the second group gets to play the instrument she or he was following.
Completing Songs --- One of the hardest kids interaction gamesInstructionForm the children into a circle. Have one child sing the first line of a song, the next child sing the next line, and so on. Continue until someone does not know the next line. This child introduces another song until, again, someone doesn't know the next line. Continue for as long as the group finds this enjoyable.
Musical Puppets What you needFour clearly different instruments such as bongos, tambourine, xylophone, and cymbals. InstructionDivide children into a group of at least seven eight. Distribute the instruments to about half the group and have the other half play puppets. Agree, in advance, on four clear signals to which the puppets must react. The sound of each instrument represents a certain movement for the puppets: Bongos: walk forward till the next signal
Tambourine: walk backward till the next signal
Xylophone: move arms up and down
Cymbals: turn around
Depending on the group, you could make the signals as simple or complex as children like.
