Kids Music Games

Kids music games are excellent ways to develop children's personal skills, social skills and creative skills. Children who often play music games become comfortable and familiar with musical elements. They also come into contact with their own musical potential in a way that is spontaneous.

There are mainly three types of kids music games for aged 6-10 years old children , which are Listening games, concentration games and interaction games. These games are suitable for all ages children. Let's start off with the first type of games ---- Listening games:

Listening games are the most easiest kids music games, they are more suitable for children up to age of seven. The chief aims of listening games are comparing and recognizing sounds, they are good ways to draw on children's memory and intelligence, and practice their ability to respond quickly and improvise.

Changing Chairs

What you need:

blindfold

Instruction

Have children form a circle. Blindfold one child and let him/her to stand in the middle of circle.

Give each child a number, besides the blindfolded one. Have blindfolded child call out two numbers, children who have these two numbers try to change places as quietly as possible. The child wearing the blindfold tries to tag one of them. While they are changing places, the two children are not allowed to run back to their own place.

Once they sit down, it is too late to tag them, when the blindfolded child successfully tag someone, they swap roles.


Guess number

What you need:

A blindfold

Instruction

Have children form a circle. Blindfold one child and have him or her stand in the middle.

When you signal, several children should move, one by one, and stand behind the children wearing the blindfold. Make it clear that the other children need to be as quiet as possible. The child wearing the blindfold must listen carefully and guess how many people are standing behind him. When he or she has guessed correctly, someone else gets to be blindfolded.


Guessing a song

Instruction

Form children into small group, or divide large group of children into several subgroups, have the children play on their own, such as clap, tap, or play the rhythm of a well-know song all the way through (You may instruct the children to play familiar songs by their bodies before the game).

At the end, the first child to name the song correctly wins a point. Whoever has the most points after a certain number of rounds is the winner.


Who is singing the loudest?

What you need:

A blindfold

Instruction

Have the children sit or stand in a circle. Blindfold one child and place him or her in the middle.

Have the whole group sing a song together, ask each child to sing at a different volume. But beforehand, gather everyone, except blindfolded child, discuss secretly who will sing very soft, soft, moderately loud, or very loud.

The child wearing blindfold listens and tries to name the child who is singing the loudest. Then he or she has to find that child and tap him or her. when he or she guesses correctly,blindfold the child who was singing the loudest and begin again.


Freeze-frame

What you need:

A CD or cassette player or radio.

Instruction

Play lively music. Ask children to move, run, or dance freely in time to the music. Stop the music suddenly. When you do, everyone must freeze in whatever position they are in. Make sure nobody moves for about 20 seconds, then begin the music again.


Tracking Down

What you need:

A different instrument for each child (could be toy instrument)A blindfold

Instruction

Have children form a circle and give each one an instrument. Blindfold one child and put him or her in the middle of circle. Then name an instrument, such as bongo drum.

Motion to everyone to start playing simultaneously. The blindfolded child has to listen carefully and try to find out where the named instrument is, then get up and get a hold of it. Until he does, children should keep playing.

When he or she has the instrument in his hands, another child takes a turn in the center.

Note:
make sure everyone in the group knows the names of all of the instruments in use.


If you don't have enough instruments, have everyone imitate the sound of different instruments.
