Sound Stories

sound stories game is a fantastic way that lets children express themselves and make up noisy in appropriate manners.

Instruction

Read a simple story filled with chances for the children to make familiar sounds on cue. For example,read a story about pets. Each time a pet is mentioned, have the children make the sound the pet makes:

A little girl named Shelley had a dog("bow-wow") that liked to chase cats("meow"). Her cats("meow")enjoyed chasing her parakeet("chirp"), etc. The children can make up stories about jungle animals, city zoo, kitchen machines, traffic jam or a trip to the school. They love it when a particular item is repeated frequently.

Variation

Have children to read one the story together. ask each child one specific sound item to listen for and create. The expectation keeps them very alert. For more challenge, ask them to act out the item.
